Things I Should’ve Mentioned…

Hi, Everyone!  I’m finally back from the dissertation-/conference-/bacon-hangover-induced departure from blogging, and I’ve decided to catch up old-school.  So, in the spirit of the blog’s past, here’s a quick round-up of some of the things we missed while I was away.  Come on in to see and hear Wye Oak, Telekinesis, St. Vincent, and more!

While I was away, M83 announced their new double album Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming (out Oct. 18th), and released the first track “Midnight City:”

As a Massachusetts native, and fan of the Lemonheads, I am legally required to tell you about the release of Juliana Hatfield’s single “Stray Kids” from the forthcoming There’s Always Another Girl.  Some of the album’s proceeds will go to support animal shelters, and you can find out more on Stereogum.

St. Vincent released a new song – “Surgeon” – which you can hear below.  If you’d like to download it, go here.

SPIN released Newermind: a cover version of the album (in the original track order) that features artists like Telekinesis, Amanda Palmer, The Vaselines, and The Meat Puppets.  Head on over for details on how to get the free album, and listen to this version of “On a Plain” by Telekinesis while you wait:

In video news… Architecture in Helsinki visited the fine folks over at Green Couch Sessions, and played a bunch of tracks.  See a taste below, and then visit Green Couch Sessions for the rest!

Wye Oak visited They Shoot Music, Don’t They and performed three tracks.  It’s a great set, and you can see “Civilian” below.  Visit They Shoot Music for the rest of the set…

And that’s about it for now… there’ll be a lot more posts coming your way soon. In the meantime, I should probably mention that I’m now over on Spotify, too. So, you know, that happened. Have a great week!
